Gemini 3.8 Flash pricing doubles from 1 January 2027
Google has published pricing for Gemini 3.8 Flash on the Gemini API with a built-in increase. Standard paid tier input runs at $0.75 per million tokens until 31 December 2026, then $1.50 from 1 January 2027, with output moving from $3.75 to $7.50 per million tokens including reasoning tokens. Batch and Flex tiers sit at half the standard rate and double on the same date, and Priority sits above it, moving from $1.35 to $2.70 input and $6.75 to $13.50 output. Grounding with Google Search and Google Maps each give 5,000 free requests per month shared across Gemini 3.x, then $14 per 1,000 requests.
What it means for a SaaS brand
If you run grounded retrieval or agent workflows against Gemini 3.8 Flash, budget now for costs doubling at the start of 2027, and note the 5,000 free monthly Search grounding requests are shared across all Gemini 3.x models, not per model. Batch and Flex tiers halve the token cost for work that does not need immediate responses, which covers most content auditing and bulk visibility checks.
