Gemini API Flash pricing doubles from 1 January 2027
The Gemini Developer API pricing page now lists promotional rates for Gemini 3.8 Flash, 3.7 Flash and 3.6 Flash that expire at the end of 2026. Standard paid input moves from $0.75 to $1.50 per million tokens and output, including thinking tokens, moves from $3.75 to $7.50 on 1 January 2027, with batch, flex and priority tiers all doubling in step. Context caching storage also goes from $0.50 to $1.00 per million tokens per hour.
What it means for a SaaS brand
If you run answer monitoring, content generation or retrieval pipelines on Gemini Flash, your unit costs double at the start of 2027, so rebuild the budget now rather than mid-quarter. Grounding with Google Search stays at 5,000 free requests a month shared across Gemini 3.x models, then $14 per 1,000, which caps how much live citation checking you can run cheaply.
