Claude Opus 5.5 API pricing lands below Opus 5 at $4 / MTok input
Anthropic's pricing docs now list Claude Opus 5.5 at $4 / MTok input and $20 / MTok output, down from Opus 5 and the 4.x Opus line at $5 / MTok input and $25 / MTok output. Claude Fable 5.1 sits at the top of the range at $10 / MTok input and $50 / MTok output, while Claude Haiku 5.5 is tiered, at $0.10 / MTok for prompts up to 100,000 tokens and $0.50 / MTok above that. Cache hits and refreshes also got cheaper across the current line, for example $0.20 / MTok on Opus 5.5 against $0.50 / MTok on Opus 5.
What it means for a SaaS brand
If you run answer-engine monitoring or content generation on Claude, re-cost your pipelines this week: the current Opus and Haiku tiers are cheaper per token than the models most teams are still pinned to, which makes wider query coverage and more frequent re-crawls affordable. Note the tokenizer change on Claude 4.7 and later, which produces roughly 30% more tokens for the same text, so compare on real workloads rather than headline rates.
