Claude Opus 5.5 lands at $4/MTok input, undercutting Opus 5
Anthropic's pricing page now lists Claude Opus 5.5 at $4 / MTok input and $20 / MTok output, below the $5 / $25 that Opus 5 and the 4.5 to 4.8 line carried. Claude Sonnet 5.5 sits at $2 / $10, down from the $3 / $15 of Sonnet 4.5 and 4.6, while Claude Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1 take the top tier at $10 / $50 with cache hits at $0.25 / MTok. Anthropic also notes that Claude 4.7 and later models use a newer tokenizer that produces roughly 30% more tokens for the same text.
What it means for a SaaS brand
Cheaper frontier input means more AI search surfaces can afford to crawl and re-read long pages, so depth and structure in your documentation pay off more than they did on the older price points. Model the 30% tokeniser increase before assuming the headline cut lowers your own bill for monitoring or content generation runs.
