Gemini API pricing doubles from 1 January 2027 across Flash tiers
Google's Gemini Developer API pricing page now lists two price points for Gemini 3.8 Flash, 3.7 Flash and 3.6 Flash: a rate up to 31 December 2026, and a rate double that from 1 January 2027. Standard input goes from $0.75 to $1.50 per million tokens and output, including thinking tokens, from $3.75 to $7.50, with the same doubling applied to Batch, Flex, Priority and context caching. Grounding with Google Search and Google Maps stays at 5,000 free requests a month across Gemini 3.x models, then $14 per 1,000 requests.
What it means for a SaaS brand
If you run AI-search monitoring or content generation on Gemini Flash, your unit costs double at the start of 2027, so rebuild the budget now and check whether Batch or Flex covers the non-urgent work. Grounded search and Maps calls are billed separately at $14 per 1,000 beyond the free 5,000 a month, which is the line item that bites hardest on high-frequency visibility tracking.
