The Role

We're looking for an Account Director to lead our most strategic client relationships and oversee delivery across the Surge45 portfolio. This is a 12-month contract role. B2B SaaS agency experience is strongly preferred — you'll be working with CMOs, VPs of Marketing, and founders at growth-stage and scale-stage SaaS companies, owning senior relationships and ensuring our retainers consistently deliver commercial outcomes. You'll also provide oversight and mentorship to Account Managers, ensuring team performance and client satisfaction across all accounts.

What You'll Do

  • Own strategic relationships with Surge45's highest-value B2B SaaS retainer clients
  • Lead quarterly business reviews (QBRs) and board-level reporting presentations
  • Oversee portfolio delivery — ensuring SEO, Paid, Content, and CRO teams are aligned to client KPIs
  • Identify commercial growth opportunities across the client portfolio (upsells, expansions, new scopes)
  • Mentor and manage Account Managers — setting standards for client communication, delivery, and strategic thinking
  • Collaborate with leadership on client retention strategy and portfolio health monitoring
  • Act as escalation point for high-risk client situations and lead resolution
  • Contribute to new business pitches and proposal development for strategic prospects
  • Build long-term relationships with CMOs, VPs of Marketing, and founders at scale-stage SaaS companies
  • Provide strategic guidance to clients on GTM alignment, channel prioritisation, and budget allocation

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years in senior account management or account director roles at a B2B digital marketing agency — B2B SaaS client experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrable experience managing senior client relationships at CMO, VP, or founder level
  • Strong commercial acumen — experienced at growing account value through strategic expansion and retention
  • Deep understanding of multi-channel B2B digital marketing (SEO, Paid, Content, CRO) and how they connect to pipeline
  • Experience leading or mentoring account management teams
  • Excellent board-level presentation and communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Specific experience with growth-stage or scale-stage B2B SaaS companies (£1M–£100M ARR)
  • Involvement in new business pitching and agency proposal writing
  • Prior experience setting up or scaling an account management function at an agency
  • Familiarity with SaaS metrics: ARR, NRR, expansion revenue, churn
